5 students competing in the 2016 Pennsylvania Governor’s STEM Challenge

A team of 5 students from Neshannock Jr/Sr High School competing in the 2016 Pennsylvania Governor’s STEM Challenge will be heading on to states.

The team comprised of Arianna Brown, Noah Burchett, Juliana McGaffic, Katie Parish and Zoli Varga, won the regional competition by designing, building and developing a presentation and prototype invention. The group presented their work to a panel of judges at a Regional Competition held at Grove City Intermediate Unit. The presentation had three components; a 20 minute presentation on their prototype, a 10 minute presentation on how STEM/STEAM impacts their community and an onsite design challenge given to them at the competition in which they were required to engineer a device to fly an egg. Points were awarded respectively to team work, creativity, presentation and success of both projects. The team will advance to states at Thaddeus Stevens College in Lancaster, PA on May 27, 2016.
