Neshannock Students Honor Veterans

Veterans — both present and past — were honored at Neshannock High School.  The student body and community members gathered to recognize our brave men and women in uniform.  The National Honor Society assembled a fitting commemoration for Veterans Day.  After the Presentation of the Colors, Pledge of Allegiance and the “Star Spangled Banner,” historical and symbolic aspects of Veterans Day were explained and student essays were read.  Neshannock High School also memorialized two of its own, Master-in-Arms Ryne Willam Hiler and Sgt. Sean McGregor VanDerWal, who passed away while on active duty.  A Proclamation was presented to the families from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and Chris Sainato’s office.  The program closed with the playing of “Taps” and the Retiring of the Colors.  The ceremony, attended by over 700 people, was a memorable “thank you” for all those who serve and have served.
